How many syringes have I gone through … ummmm off the top of my head about 5 and yes I do get slightly excited (yes sadly) when we get another prescription from the Dr and it comes with a new syringe. These things annoy me to no end; one because the markings start coming off after repeated washings so clearly that ends up right in the garbage and two I can never get the medicine spot on the mark which means I have to struggle (yes struggle) with filling it a little higher so that I can push some back in the bottle, but then 9 times out of 10 I push too much in the bottle and have to start all over again (i’m getting annoyed just thinking about this process).
When I saw that the an item called The True Easy Syringe by Acu-Life needed to be tested through PTPA (whom I blog for), I actually wrote them immediately explaining that I would LOVE the opportunity and a few days later it was at my door. This is a “true” winner in my books (clearly designed by a mother who was in the same boat as me)
Here’s how it works:
There is an orange disc which is located at the top of the syringe which has an arrow embossed into it, line up the required dosage (there are four dosages which are clearly marked by colour coding at the top of the syringe) with this arrow. Note: if you are trying to use this in the middle of the night, you will need light to see the arrow – however, I think the newer one’s have a white arrow which is shown in the picture below). Pull the plunger back and when you get to the dose you have chosen, the plunger will not let you pull further therefore not having to keep trying to get it right on the mark. It’s actually quite smart!!!
I have cleaned this syringe many times now and so far the markings have not come off. That being said, they are also on the lid so if for some reason down the road the markings do start coming off, at least I have the colour coded one’s at the top.
I only had one question about this product which was what if the dose is not one of the four doses on the product and typical me I googled it and saw that another mommy blogger had a similar thought and she said that when she looked at most child dosages, they all fell within these dosage groups.
Disclosure: I was not paid to test this product. I received one True Easy Syringe for review purposes only. All thoughts and opinions are all my own.
