This Holiday Netflix has you Covered #StreamTeam

Netflix Canada

Whether you are changing your location (some like to call it “vacation” however with children it is no vacation so I prefer to call it a change of location) or having a staycation, there is always a moment of child boredom due to bad weather of any kind so that’s the moment you cuddle up on the couch with your mini’s and turn on the newest show Trollhunters which launched on December 23rd

Netflix Holidays

Want to hear the best news EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! You can now download … yes DOWNLOAD some of your child’s (or your) favourite shows for on-the-go. This actually couldn’t make me any happier because this big launch happened right before I was heading on a flight with my kids. I tested out this new download and they watched some of their favourite shows on the flight. Just a heads up though … not every show is available for download :(

Happy Holidays and a very happy and healthy New Year from both myself and Netflix

Unwrap Hasbro’s Hottest Toys #HolidayToyList

HolidaytoyList

Furby Connect

Furby’s baaaaack and with a vengeance!!! Prior to getting the new Furby Connect to review, I was always curious about him. I mean how could you not, he is so damn cute and looks so lonely on the shelves sitting in that box (shame). When I heard that the new Furby Connect was one of Hasbro’s hot items for the 2016 Holidays, I was intrigued right away. I was sent one to test out and my kids went apeS^&T, in fact he started a huge fight with my kids because both my boys wanted to play with him at the same time (what’s new).

Furby Connect

Now for those of you who have had the previous Furby I can happily say that now he now has an off button (well sort of) it’s his sleep mask. Once you put that sleep mask onto Furby he immediately falls asleep. If you are wondering if he wakes up ever with the sleep mask on that is a NO, when that thing is on he is OFF!

We (including me) couldn’t get enough of him. He dances (he moves from side to side and his ears move around as well), he laughs, he farts, he burbs (I mean what more could you want from a toy) and talks to you (he has over 1000 phrases). The most interesting part of all is that you download the Furby Connect app and through Bluetooth your Furby toy and app communicate (FYI you have to pair them first – read the directions when you get it) and while you are playing the game Furby knows what is going on and helps you along the way providing you helpful hints). He has a real time clock causing Furby to react differently at different times of the day.

Furby Connect

My kids love that his eyes are full colour digital displays so when he has hearts in his eyes he is happy and when he is hungry and you feed him (you just stick your finger in his mouth) his eyes will show you what he is eating. It really is a blast and your kids will love it.

Dreamwork’s Trolls Glitterific Guy Diamond

After seeing the movie, my kids are Troll obsessed which doesn’t surprise me considering when I was little I collected Trolls and funny enough a year ago (before we even knew about the movie) my mom brought them out for the boys to play with and loved them. Glitterific Guy Diamond is a 14″ poseable figure which is great for those little one’s who have a very active imagination. He is glittery from head to toe, comes with sunglasses and a comb to style his crazy hair. These Trolls have come a long way since my days!

Leap into the Holidays with LeapFrog #HolidayToyList

Leap Frog Toys

LeapFrog #1 fan right here, always have been, always will be! Now it’s time to leap into the Holiday toy buying with LeapFrog.

If you don’t know the LeapFrog brand (not sure there are many people out there that don’t know their brand) their products are educational, age appropriate, interactive and simply just fun.

My kids recently tested out 2 of the products, the Count Along Register and LeapStart Learning System and both were huge hits. The Count Along Register my youngest son went crazy over because for whatever reason he absolutely loves cash registers (I think it’s an age thing). The last two cash registers he got as gifts for his birthday didn’t last more than a few weeks (1 broke as it was thrown down a flight of stairs and the other, the cash drawer got stuck and wouldn’t close) so he was ecstatic to get this. As for my older son, he is in grade 1 now and is getting homework weekly which oddly enough he LOVES to do (that was a big shock for me) and when he saw the LeapStart Learning System, he was intrigued and immediately wanted to try it. Now we only had the demo book for it, but he thought it was pretty cool how you take the pointer and put it on a picture and it knows what you are pointing at by saying it out loud.

What I love about the Count Along Register
– I love the size of the register, it’s small enough for little fingers but big enough not to over power the little one’s
– there is a lot to touch and play with
– It comes with a bunch of coloured fruit, credit card and coins
– helps children learn their colours, teaches them how to count using the coins and learn about recognition with fruit
– has volume control
– sings songs to your little one that they can learn and sing along to
– great for imaginative role playing
– very reasonable priced at $26.99

LeapFrog Count Along Cash Register

What I love about the LeapStart Interactive Learning System
– they have two separate LeapStart systems for different age groups
– replayable activity books
– educational without them really knowing it is because they make it a fun kind of learning
– the activity books (sold separately) $14.99 include reading, math, vocabulary, science and many more (these are books for 1st graders) there are also books for Kindergarten
– retails for $49.99

Notes:
– the product does not come with batteries so make sure you have them on hand when your little one unwraps it
– I have not had the opportunity to try out the activity books beyond what it comes with, but I have already purchased some (waiting for them to come in the mail) as I know these will make learning just a little more fun and i’m excited to see how
– there is another interactive book for younger kids available

What’s New in the Kid’s Shoe Market #Skechers #Giveaway

corp skx blu logo - Copy

I like to consider myself a little bit of a shoe connoisseur. I know, that’s a bold statement, so let me back this up by explaining myself. I collect running shoes (some people might call it odd but those who know … know!). There are women out there that like to collect purses, some like to collect jewelry, other like to collect high heeled shoes, but me, I get excitement looking at my shoe closet (yes I have one) and pick a pair of sneakers to wear for the day (it’s the little things right?!). I am well versed on the newest styles, new releases and what the hottest colour schemes/colour blocks are.

When you procrastinate doing work or laundry or cleaning something up, what are you doing? Big shocker … I am on my couch with a computer on my lap looking online for my next pair of sneakers. One thing to know about me, this shoe love of mine is not just my shoes, my kids have pretty awesome shoes I must say. In fact, I kind of pride myself on their shoe collection and secretly love when someone notices a pair. When I bring home a new pair of shoes, they get just as excited as I do. What more can a mother who loves shoes ask for 😉

A while back I reviewed the new Women’s Skechers Burst which got major props from me because … well … they are simply amazing. I was thrilled to just recently hear that Skechers now have the mini version of the Skechers Burst and of course I was more than thrilled to review them along with the Skechers Nitrate-Pulsar.

Skechers Kids Shoes - Kid's Shoe

Why I love the Kids Skechers Burst Shoe
– great colour options to choose from
– they are SUPER lightweight but not taking away from the quality of the shoe
– knit fabric with a unique colourful interwoven design
– Comes with two different coloured pair of laces
– Interwoven ventilating design on the side (because we all know shoes need some ventilation system especially for kids with their stinky feet)
– has a soft tongue
– air cooled memory foam cushioned comfort sole (one of my favorite features about Skechers shoes)
– soft responsive Burst compound allows maximum flexibility
– Burst grip traction design
–  1 1/4″ heel
– Burst compound midsole has amazing impact cushion protection

Boys Skechers Burst - Kid's Shoe

Why I love the Skechers Boys Nitrate – Pulsar Shoe
– sporty style
– has a gel infused memory foam making these shoes SUPER comfortable
– stretch laces making the shoes easy to slip on
– breathable fabric
– padded tongue
– supportive shock absorbing lightweight midsole
– non-marking outsole

Licensed Labels to get Excited About

labels2

I have recently realized that you can never have enough name labels in your house!

These days I pretty much label everything because of a common theme in my house …  missing items! Whether it be an article of clothing, accessory or toy, it leaves the house and it’s a toss up as to whether it comes home at the end of the day. It drives me crazy!!!! So now, before my kids leave the house, I check them from head to toe to make sure everything has their name label in it as that is my only shot at getting the missing item back.

I have been buying labels since my oldest guy was a baby (he is now 6) and I have to say that I actually really enjoy the process of finding a great label website and creating new labels. Now that my mini’s are older, I actually let them pick out their own labels and you should have seen the excitement when I showed them www.mylabelfactory.com (let’s be honest, I was pretty excited too). They have TONS of licensed labels. Everything from Sesame Street, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Frozen, Disney Princess, Disney Finding Dory and Disney Mickey Mouse. There were so many options, they had a hard time choosing which were their favorite.

I have used these on everything from toys to clothing to Tupperware and they stick pretty well. I have hand washed items with them on, thrown items into the dishwasher and washing machine with the labels on and they stick pretty well. Sure there were some that came off with time, but that was my fault since I would adhere some of the labels to the fabric itself since the item didn’t come with a tag (for best results put the label on a tag).

mylabelfactory.com

The website is very easy to navigate and the labels don’t take weeks to arrive (they came within a week) and shipping is FREE within Canada (woohoo)!

If you are in the market for labels, our friends at mylabelfactory.com have offered my readers a 20% discount on their order using promo code: babylish20 until Christmas

Have fun picking out your little one’s favorite labels

What’s Streaming for Halloween #StreamTeam

Halloween Streaming

I swear my kids wait all year for Halloween! In fact, as soon as Halloween is over they start planning their costumes for the following years Halloween however they probably change their minds about 6 times throughout the year since they really base it on their favorite tv/movie at the time.

My little guy (not shockingly) is dressing up as his favorite Skylander character, Wallop and my big guy is dressing up as the wrestler, Jake the Snake. Now that we are done with costumes, we are going to decorate the outside of our house (besides their birthdays, this is their absolute favorite day of the year) and then with the help of Netflix, we are going to get our carve on (carving rookie here).

If you are still looking for some Halloween costume, decoration or pumpkin carving inspiration, check out this great Netflix guide to Halloween:

Halloween with Netflix

If your kids are obsessed with Skylanders like mine, Netflix has BIG news that they will be very excited about!! Coming October 28th is the new Netflix show: Skylander Academy – Preview the trailer here:

Happy Halloween to all – I can’t wait to see all the pictures

The Toy that will Make your Kids Laugh #HolidayToyList

Sing-A-Ma-Ling's

I was recently introduced to a new toy called Sing-A-Ma-Lings and when I mentioned these cute toys to a friend thinking they were new, she looked at me as if I was crazy for not knowing them!

I gave these funny looking yet totally adorable little things a go, handed them to my mini toy reviewer and let him decide if they were worthy enough of his time. Within 2 minutes of figuring them out, he was belly laughing because the Sing-A-Ma-Lings (we got 2 of them) were talking in their own funny language … TO EACH OTHER.  They communicate! He was so fascinated by them singing together that he tried to have them FaceTime to see if they can do the same thing over the phone

Sing-A-Ma-Ling Toy

I played around with them for a bit (during my mini’s nap time because there was no way I was laying a hand on them when he was up) and figured out there are three modes of play: Harmony (they harmonize together), Jibber Jabber (they talk in their funny language together) and Song (each one sings a word of a song together). Combine any of the 6 Sing-A-Ma-Lings and enjoy listening to them harmonize together.

This is definitely on my hot toy list for the holidays!

Sing-A-Ma-Lings

Where to Buy: Toys R Us
Price: $16.99

As if your mini can’t get enough of their Sing-A-Ma-Lings, you can catch them here on their Youtube channel

Potty Training with Kandoo Flushable Wipes #Giveaway

Potty Training

You know what’s hard … having kids, you know what’s harder … potty training them!!!!!!! Just when you think you found the light at the end of the tunnel, your mini decides they are going to throw you through a loop and has accident after accident after accident (AHHHHHHHH SOOO FRUSTRATING).

If I have learned some things from the first round of potty training my older guy:
– you are never out of the woods (at least until they are teenagers) accidents happen all the time
– never leave home without a change of clothes (maybe even throw an extra pair in your car as back up for you or even a friend – your friend will love you for life for saving them on this one)
– have a Kandoo hand soap at EVERY sink in your house (they will want to wash their hands because they come in fun colours and smells so good)
– if you are leaving the house, always carry some form of anti-bacterial soap because some how that urine or feces will end up in your hands (true story)
– you can never have enough wipes on you and around your house: regular wipes on every floor and flushable wipes in every bathroom (needs to be in reaching distance)
– kids see that nicely rolled up white toilet paper and want to unravel it and use it so badly but DO NOT LET THEM. It breaks apart and crumbles in their tiny little hands. No good comes from using it, TRUST ME ON THIS PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I was introduced to the Kandoo line about 5 years ago and I have never been let down by them. Their products have been there for me for all problems: leaky nose = Boogie Wipes (smells great and uses saline to help clear their noses), Kids not wanting to wash their hands = Kandoo Hand Soap (smells amazing and is coloured for having fun while washing your hands), Kids don’t want to take a bath = Kandoo Body Wash (also comes in fun colours to entice them to go take a bath) & Kandoo Bubble Bath, Kids learning to potty train = Kandoo Flushable Wipes (safe for toilets)

One of the scariest parts of potty training is leaving the house with your undiapered child. Now Kandoo has their flushable wipes in soft packs for the “on-the-go” moments. Make sure it becomes an essential in your bag.

Kandoo Wipes Facts:
– they are made from plant material
– they are both flushable and biodegradable
– comes in tubs, soft packs and refill packs
– the sheets are the perfect size for little hands
– moistened with lotion
– comes unscented or magic melon

Kandoo Flushable Wipes

Thanks to our wonderful friends at Kandoo, they are giving away a $50 Gift Pack of Kandoo & Boogie Wipes products to 1 lucky Canadian winner. Here’s how to enter:

Don’t Forget about Family Time #StreamTeam

So you blinked and it somehow turned into fall! The kids went back to school, the after school programs started, the weekend programs started which means in my house one parent takes the older and one person takes the younger and after a crazy week of running around you realize that you have spent little to no time with two members of your group of 4 and there is no time to catch up.

Welcome to my life! So what do I do? I find Netflix television shows and movies that we can all agree on (that is no easy task these days), sit down on the couch in our pjs and make a bag of popcorn and just hang out together. It’s pretty much my favourite part of the day.

Where to Start? Check out these great family titles

September Netflix Titles– Maleficent
– Zootopia (The kids LOVE this one and frankly so do I)
– Planes: Fire & Rescue
– Tangled
– The Princess and the Frog
– Treasure Planet
– Cool Runnings
– Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Don’t forget to take some time out of your busy schedules to sit down as a crew and put on some of the newest Netflix shows on.

Come Together with Beat Bugs on Netflix #BeatBugs #StreamTeam

images-2

What do you call cute little bugs that sing great tunes … BEAT BUGS!

My television is heavily consumed by Kids Netflix shows that I am made to sit down and watch if I want some cuddles. 90% of the time I tune out what they are watching and the other 10% I actually pay attention to and this show was one that fell in the 10% since the opening song to the first episode was an old time hit that made me burst out into song (which made them laugh).

Kids will love the adorable bug-like creatures, Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter with fun storylines and parents will love the music since songs have been re-recorded by today’s top artists, including P!nk, Sia and Eddie Vedder. Here’s a little trailer so get your vocal cords ready!
