Come Together with Beat Bugs on Netflix #BeatBugs #StreamTeam

What do you call cute little bugs that sing great tunes … BEAT BUGS!

My television is heavily consumed by Kids Netflix shows that I am made to sit down and watch if I want some cuddles. 90% of the time I tune out what they are watching and the other 10% I actually pay attention to and this show was one that fell in the 10% since the opening song to the first episode was an old time hit that made me burst out into song (which made them laugh).

Kids will love the adorable bug-like creatures, Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter with fun storylines and parents will love the music since songs have been re-recorded by today’s top artists, including P!nk, Sia and Eddie Vedder. Here’s a little trailer so get your vocal cords ready!

All Things Canadian #Netflix

Fireworks

We celebrate our birthdays yearly, so it is only customary to celebrate Canada’s birthday with friends, fireworks and BBQ’s (can’t forget a day off work – thank you very much Canada) which is customary!

Every Monday of the Canada day long weekend, my entire family gets together for dinner and the kids play outside. Typically my kids can never go watch fireworks because you have to wait until the sun goes down, but this year the neighbour had a fireworks display early for all the little kids and just as we were leaving my parents house they were starting so my little one got to see and the smile that came over his face was truly amazing. I then took my older one to his school where they were putting on fireworks once the sun went down and he truly had the best time sitting with his friends from his class and dancing around. It really was a night to remember.

In celebration of Canada’s birthday, Netflix is streaming all things Canadian

Try Explaining it with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netlfix

These days I find that I am having one way conversations with my kids, I am talking and nobody is listening. They either are running around the house hyper as can be, fighting with each other over g-d knows what or they have their heads dug into some tech device.

I have found that I can teach my kids a thousand lessons, but truly they couldn’t care less or they just tune me out, but if their favorite Netflix show teaches them the same lesson they somehow find it very interesting and repeat it to me as if I haven’t previously said the same thing!!!!

Looking for some show recommendations?

May Netflix

  1. The Hive – teaching you about sibling rivalry
    2. Veggietales: in the house – teaching about responsibility
    3. Puffin Rock – following the rules
    4. The Adventures of Puss in Boots – teach about self-love
    5. Project MC2 – all about teamwork
    6. Fuller House – Peer Pressure
    7. The Fosters – Actions have Consequences
    8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Self-Improvement
    9. Glee – Body Image (one of my most favorite shows)

Netflix Resolves Sibling Rivalry #StreamTeam

brothers2

After I had my second son, someone once told me that at some point I will no longer be a mother, but a referee. Well … I am most certainly still a mother (whatever that meant), but I now get the whole referee thing. My boys actually fight over everything and it is sooooo frustrating: “that’s my seat” “that’s my toy” “I want to listen to my music” “that’s my mommy” “I want to watch my show” and the list goes on … and on … and on!!!!!

Netflix has come up with their own way to help with sibling rivalry with sibling playlists:

A Tale of Two Distant Ages Playlist:
this one is for your 5 year old and your 14 year old
Netflix 1
1. Antz
2. Fuller House
3. How to Train Your Dragon: 2

Sugar and Spice Playlist:
got one sassy kid and one sweet kid? This one is for you!

Netflix 2
1. Lego Friends: The Power of Friendship
2. Dawn of the Croods
3. Project MC2

“Meet in the Middle” Playlist: (this is ours)
comedy meets action for this one!

netflix 3
1. All Hail King Julien
2. Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday
3. The Adventures of Puss in Boots

Looking to bring your kids together to watch a communal Netflix show, try King Julien! Something about that opening song (it’s catchy, I’m singing it in my head as I write this) gets both my boys up off the couch (typically from their fighting) dancing and laughing their heads off … try it!!!

Netflix Lego Madness #StreamTeam

Netlfix

Your kids get to a certain age where they discover Lego and then that’s it, all they want is Lego Lego and more Lego which was awesome for me because in some weird way I found building the Lego kits calming and quite addicting if I might say so myself. Then comes the moment you step on a piece and HOLY S*%!T you just wish Lego didn’t exist and then you look over and your little one is building the kit all by themselves and you just feel so proud!

We live for Lego in my house: we build Lego, we play with Lego and watch Lego movies. Thanks to Netflix, we just introduced my oldest guy to Lego Bionicle and it’s not just a Lego kit, but a Lego show! We built the Bionicle over March break and I foresee many Bionicles being built in my future.

Celebrating the Holidays with Netflix – Enter to WIN!!! #NetfliXmas #StreamTeam

Netlfix

December is one of my favourite months of the year: Hanukkah, Christmas, Christmas Music (my absolute favourite), lights on neighbourhood houses and trees, Christmas movies and the smell of baking in friends houses. To be quite honest, the only smell of baked goods in my house is the purchased kind or even the pre-made cookie dough kind. I have seen so many amazing cookie recipes via #streamteam bloggers, however my best recipe is going to the grocery store and picking up those pre-made cookie dough rolls, roll them into balls and put them on the cookie sheet for 10-15 minutes creating the perfect, delicious cookies for all my family members to enjoy for their late afternoon movie chill. Netflix has an amazing lineup for the month of December!

December Netflix

1. Casper’s Haunted Christmas

2. Cat in the Hat knows a lot about Christmas

3. Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas

Netlifx Helps with Bedtime

Netlfix

How many parents out there struggle with getting your kids into their bed for bedtime and then to actually stay in their room to fall asleep? A few years ago, bedtime was easy: hugs, kisses night night. In the last year, the stall tactics have taken over our bedtime routine: “this is old water, I need new water”, “I think I have to poo”, “can you read me just one more book”, “i’m scared of the dark”, “i’m scared I am going to have a nightmare”, “you only gave me a kiss, no hug (even though I did give him a hug)”, “I need another kiss and hug” and of course the old time favourite “just five more minutes … please! I promise I will go straight to bed”.

So now your wondering how can television possibly help me with this bedtime struggle? Well, when your little one say’s “just 5 more minutes” let them have their 5 minutes and turn on the all new, hit show Diontrux Favorites which is an entire episode jam packed into 5 minutes!!! It’s really a win, win: they feel satisfied because they feel like they got their way, and you get an easier bedtime WOOT WOOT.

What excuse does your little one use to stall at bedtime?

I can’t wait to try this one out

Back to School with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netlfix

The weather has spoken and summer is coming to an end. Camp is over, programs for the fall have been set and your child’s back to school backpack is almost ready to go. Hard to believe that this is the end, it’s just too short.

Now it’s time to start hyping up back-to-school and talking to your kids about appropriate classroom behaviour (well at least I do) and what to expect, but that is never an easy conversation especially with the little one’s because they just don’t get it. Sometimes our television friends do the best job explaining and with these new Netflix titles they just might understand the underlying message.

For the Little Guys

Back to School netflix

1. Curious George
2. Zoboomafoo
3. Yo Gabba Gabba! (my big guy has been watching the show for years and it’s amazing how many lessons he has picked up from this show)
4. Walking with Dinosaurs
5. Planet Earth: The Complete Collection
6. The Adventures of Chuck & Friends
7. Animal Mechanicals (teaches kids about working together to get the job done)
8. The Magic School Bus
9. The Cat in the Hat
10. Dinotrux (the new AMAZING series teaching kids to work together using their individual skills and problem solve)
11. Ever After High: Way too Wonderland

Best of luck with Back to School to you the parent (we need the luck … well I know I do) and of course the kiddies

Every Day is an Adventure #StreamTeam

Dragon Race to the Edge

When I think of an adventure, my mind slips into another world thinking of zip lining in Costa Rica or taking a cruise through the Greek Islands or sleeping in a hut over the bright blue water in Bali and then I come back to reality with a toy car being whipped at my head and watching as my two boys start swinging baseball bats at each other (soft one’s don’t worry – this is pretty normal in my house).

The truth is, life is one big adventure … you never know what to expect! They come in all different ways like a simple trip to the grocery store, playing Super-Heroes in the basement or even being woken up at 4:00am to your screaming child scared of the nightmare he just had … all an adventure.

The best adventures are the one’s your kids make up using their crazy imaginations and watching adventure television cartoon shows help with that. Last weekend we saw ‘How to Train your Dragon’ and since seeing it, my son tells me how he wants to have a dragon take him to camp everyday.

Make your own adventures with your kids while sitting on the couch with a bowl of popcorn watching all the great adventure titles on Netflix.
