Are you going to see Disney Pixar Inside Out?

Inside Out

I have always been a huge fan of animated movies, but Inside Out could be just the cutest! I mean, what a great concept for a movie. It enlightens kids about all the different emotions they feel in a dramatic yet funny way. I’m definitely not a movie critic, but I had high expectations going in to see the pre-screening and walked out very pleased (and so did my big guy), in fact he now explains how is feeling based on the characters he saw (anger, fear, sadness, disgust and joy).

The one thing I do have to say, is that it is a very hard concept for the little one’s to understand. After explaining to my mini me that these emotions are not in your “stomach” (his words), that they are in your head, he seemed to get it, but that didn’t seem to bother him because he laughed out loud and well so did the rest of the audience (comprised of mostly adults).

In a very creative way, the different emotions inside Riley’s head (anger, fear, sadness, disgust and joy) all work together at Headquarters to help guide her through the up’s and down’s of her life. While Riley is trying to adjust to a family up route to San Francisco, turmoil begins at Headquarters and Sadness and Joy get separated from the group leaving Fear, Disgust and Anger in charge. Trying to find their way back, they watch as Riley’s favourite memories start to disappear and run into a few of her favourite old memories who help them through the maze of her mind seeing unfamiliar places like Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought and Dream Productions to get back to turn things around (make sure to bring some tissues because there are some parts that are a real tear jerker).

In theatres NOW!

Inside Out

Enjoy making new memories with your little one

Must See Movie Alert #Blended

Blended Movie

It’s not often I get to see movies these days, but I still know a good movie when I see one and Warner Bros. movie Blended is one of those that should go on your “must see” list.

I try not to describe movies as “cute” as it is one of those words that the moment I even utter the word “cute” to describe a movie to my husband, the next word out of his mouth is straight up NO, but I can’t think of any other word that best describes this movie, because it was just so damn cute! You will find yourself laughing out loud as some of the characters are hilarious and if you have kids you will relate to many parts of the movie! It was one of those feel good movies that leaves you with a big smile on your face.

There are some on screen couples that work so well together that you wonder why they aren’t together in real life and Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler are just one of those couples (I have always been a fan of their movies together).

Synopsis:
After being set on a disastrous blind date, Lauren (played by Drew Barrymore) and Jim (played by Adam Sandler) agree on one thing, that they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they are all stuck sharing a suite at a fabulous African safari resort for a week

So grab your girlfriends or bribe your husband and go to see it.
Enjoy (and treat yourself to a big bag of popcorn)

Disney Presents ‘Saving Mr. Banks’

Saving Mr. Banks

NOW AVAILABLE in BLU-RAY COMBO PACK

If you loved Mary Poppins (who didn’t) you are going to love the movie Saving Mr. Banks as it’s the backstory behind the making of the classic book, Mary Poppins. After a 20 year struggle of trying to obtain the screen rights to the book Mary Poppins, the author, P.L Travers, agrees to fly out to Walt Disney Studios in L.A to meet with Walt himself to decide whether she wants to approve or disapprove of what the writers have put together. We quickly learn why she is attached to the character Mary Poppins through flashbacks to her childhood (the other side of the story). Did I mention it is based on true events!!! I found myself quite emotional watching the movie and then catching myself laughing out loud. If you are looking for one of those movies that just puts a smile on your face, this just might be it!

One thing to note: I wouldn’t define this as a kids movie, I think of it more as an adult movie for those who grew up watching Mary Poppins.

Here is the trailer (don’t worry no spoilers)

Have you seen the movie? Let me know what you think of it

Spend March Break & Passover Break with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netflix

A week of no school (or more), what is a mom to do? There are only so many programs you can enrol your child into and then what?!

This past week was March break and I had my big guy enrolled in morning programs three days a week and then figured I would have playdates in the afternoons, but it seemed like half his friends were in school still and only got Passover break and the rest already had plans so, I decided to plan a special afternoon and  have a baking and movie date thanks to Netflix.

I hyped up our afternoon plans telling him we were going to bake “nana’s amazing oatmeal chocolate chip cookies which were my favourite when I was little” and then I told him he could pick a movie on Netflix and we can grab pillows and a blanket and eat the cookies while watching. Honestly speaking, I have never seen him so excited! Having mom snuggling with him, cookies and a movie what could be better.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

RECIPE
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Measure:
1/2 cup brown sugar firmly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Cream with:
1/2 cup of butter (1 stick)
Combine and beat in until smooth:
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon milk
Sift together and add to the above ingredients:
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon double-acting baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
When beaten smooth, add:
1 cup uncooked quick rolled oats
3/4 cup chocolate chips
Beat the mixture well. Drop cookies 2 inches apart on well greased cookie sheet and bake until light brown (10-12 minutes)

Here are some great family movies for both the younger and older kids that are now available on Netflix

Netflix Family Movies - Little Kids

Titles for the younger kids

Netflix Family Movies for Older Kids

Titles for the older kids

My little man chose to watch the awesome animated movie Turbo which he didn’t last more than 20 minutes watching because he can’t sit still, but the best part of Netflix, pause it and then go back to it whenever you want.

Hope you all had a great March break with your family and for those who’s kids have Passover break, make a special movie date with your little one and enjoy your time together.
