Streaming Smarter #StreamTeam

Stream with Netflix

Have you ever watched a Netflix show, been curious about a fact in the show and then Googled it to find out more about it? I like to call this Streaming Smarter

I often find myself watching a show and then asking my husband about it and then we both Google it to get more information. This recently happened with Narcos. We started watching it and I was so fascinated by the whole thing that I grabbed my phone and looked up what Pablo Escobar looked like in real life and then it spiraled to finding out all these details that I had no idea about. This also happened when a friend of mine HIGHLY recommended the Netflix show Fauda, the first thing I did was Google it to see if it was a show I wanted to invest hours of my time watching and well this one is next on my list.

It’s not uncommon for those curious little fellows living in your house throw out a question or two about a show they are a watching assuming you will have the answer because you’re mom and obviously you have all the answers! What’s your first stop? Google of course! My kids love Moana and my mini told me that the place where she lives is the most beautiful place on earth and sure enough I picked up my phone and Googled Hawaii images to show him that Hawaii does exist. It’s amazing what this Google machine can do :)!

On a side note: who’s excited for the release of Stranger Things Season 2???!!! While you wait, you can play their nostalgic 80’s type game on your phone available at the app store. Fun right!

The Newest Netflix Hack – You DON’T Want to Miss This! #StreamTeam

Netflix Hack

How cool would it be if your child’s favourite Netflix show could wish them a happy birthday on their special day?

Well I have BIG news that I have been holding onto for weeks now and been so excited to tell everyone. Netflix just launched the best hack that will bring a HUGE smile to your little one’s faces. Now available are 15 on-demand birthday wishes from your kids favourite Netflix characters:

  • All Hail King Julien
  • Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu
  • Lego Friends
  • Luna Petunia
  • My Little Pony
  • Beat Bugs
  • Skylanders Academy
  • Project MC2
  • Word Party
  • Dino Trux
  • Barbie
  • Pokemon
  • Trollhunters

I truly think I am more excited for my kids birthdays than they are! I feel like there is so much planning involved to make sure they have the most special day and that’s A LOT of pressure! It starts off with waking up to balloons, into gift opening and then after school having a family birthday party with streamers, table themes, a custom cake and a lot of clean up!!!! I’m actually exhausted just thinking about it.

Well this new Netflix Birthday launch is a great way to take some of that pressure off and make them feel like they are the most special person! My son is obsessed with Skylanders so naturally I chose to have the Skylanders sing him happy birthday and he couldn’t be more excited (and probably somewhat confused how I made that happen). MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

Take a look at my son’s *slightly confused* but cute reaction https://www.instagram.com/p/BZMAX7xh23W/?taken-by=terri_babylishadvice

When it’s your child’s birthday, give it a try! Just search: Birthday and all the different options will come up and all you have to do is press play – it’s that easy.

Happy birthday to all the little one’s out there celebrating and I hope this makes their day (and your day) a little happier

Unwind with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netlfix

From school to play dates, hockey practice, swim lessons, baseball practice and now to long days at camp, sitting back on a couch and unwinding with Netflix for a few minutes is a BIG must in my house.

I love nothing more than my kids running around out doors getting some exercise, but sometimes it is necessary to just have some down time where they can be one with the couch and reset their busy little minds and bodies. It sounds easier than it is because two little boys who have a lot of energy don’t always just want to sit down but when I say “popcorn and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” it usually is an easy draw to get them inside to mellow out.

Big news from Netflix: now your kids can be their own director and determine what adventures they want to see. With the new launch of Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, Netflix is introducing interactive ways to watch TV by putting the storytelling power in the hands of the most important audience member … your kid! Your child will be asked questions and they can choose the path to which the show goes (brilliant actually .. and so fun).

Now go show your kids and let them have the fun!

Happy almost long weekend

Media to the Max #StreamTeam

Kids now-a-days are exposed to so many forms of media … it’s Media to the Max! It’s hard to stop them considering they are constantly surrounded by it whether it be television, movies, video games, apps on their tablets or computers, websites etc so we look for outlets that help our children learn.

There are a lot of media sources out there that don’t have a positive influence on our kids which is why Netflix has great shows for kids that help shape their values and teach important life skills like empathy, patience and respect.

Here’s a little Netflix cheat guide of shows that help enforce the values we want to teach our kidsNetflix Media to the Max

Along these lines, Netflix made a social experiment video around the new Netflix show 13 Reasons Why (which might I add I absolutely LOVE and am totally addicted to) – make sure to check out the experiment video below, it’s very touching.

If you have any Netflix shows that your child love’s and teaches them great values, please let us know by commenting below.

Happy watching

Are you a Netflix Cheater? #StreamTeam

Netflix Cheat

Since my husband doesn’t read all my blog posts, I can openly admit that I am a Netflix cheater! That’s right, I have Netflix cheated on him.

I am sure you can all agree there have been 1 or 2 (or 3 or 4) Netflix shows that you start watching with your “other”, you get so into it and just when the episode finishes he/she drops the bomb on you that he/she is going out tomorrow night and all you can think about is the ending to the last episode you watched and when you can get your next fix. We have ALL been there!

That’s how I felt about Suits, I seriously could not get enough and needed to just keep on going so when my husband told me he was going out the next night, I tried telling myself I will just watch in a few days, but then the next night came and I was sitting solo on the couch with nothing to watch and then I did it! I watched two episodes without him. I felt so guilty about it after but the truth … i’m pretty sure he still doesn’t know.

Here are some cheat worthy shows

Netflix Cheating Shows

Stranger Things
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
A Series of Unfortunate Events
One Day at a Time
Ultimate Beastmaster

Did you know that 46% of Netflix Global Viewers Cheat! Have you Netflix cheated?

A New Year calls for New Shows #StreamTeam

Netflix Canada

Television show endings these days are not all fuzzy peaches and roses. They seem to be more controversial or they leave you with lots of questions and of course for us (adults) we like that, but children (well up to a certain age) they think endings should all be happy ever after which as we all know is certainly not real life?! So is it time to let them in on our little secret? Netflix is reinventing family television with these new showNetflix New Years

Lemony Snickers A Series of Unfortunate Events
Dreamworks Trollhunters
Voltron: Legendary Defender
Tarzan and Jane
Home: Adventures of Tip & Oh
Kazoos

So are your kids ready for the anti-fairytale?

This Holiday Netflix has you Covered #StreamTeam

Netflix Canada

Whether you are changing your location (some like to call it “vacation” however with children it is no vacation so I prefer to call it a change of location) or having a staycation, there is always a moment of child boredom due to bad weather of any kind so that’s the moment you cuddle up on the couch with your mini’s and turn on the newest show Trollhunters which launched on December 23rd

Netflix Holidays

Want to hear the best news EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! You can now download … yes DOWNLOAD some of your child’s (or your) favourite shows for on-the-go. This actually couldn’t make me any happier because this big launch happened right before I was heading on a flight with my kids. I tested out this new download and they watched some of their favourite shows on the flight. Just a heads up though … not every show is available for download :(

Happy Holidays and a very happy and healthy New Year from both myself and Netflix

What’s Streaming for Halloween #StreamTeam

Halloween Streaming

I swear my kids wait all year for Halloween! In fact, as soon as Halloween is over they start planning their costumes for the following years Halloween however they probably change their minds about 6 times throughout the year since they really base it on their favorite tv/movie at the time.

My little guy (not shockingly) is dressing up as his favorite Skylander character, Wallop and my big guy is dressing up as the wrestler, Jake the Snake. Now that we are done with costumes, we are going to decorate the outside of our house (besides their birthdays, this is their absolute favorite day of the year) and then with the help of Netflix, we are going to get our carve on (carving rookie here).

If you are still looking for some Halloween costume, decoration or pumpkin carving inspiration, check out this great Netflix guide to Halloween:

Halloween with Netflix

If your kids are obsessed with Skylanders like mine, Netflix has BIG news that they will be very excited about!! Coming October 28th is the new Netflix show: Skylander Academy – Preview the trailer here:

Happy Halloween to all – I can’t wait to see all the pictures

Don’t Forget about Family Time #StreamTeam

So you blinked and it somehow turned into fall! The kids went back to school, the after school programs started, the weekend programs started which means in my house one parent takes the older and one person takes the younger and after a crazy week of running around you realize that you have spent little to no time with two members of your group of 4 and there is no time to catch up.

Welcome to my life! So what do I do? I find Netflix television shows and movies that we can all agree on (that is no easy task these days), sit down on the couch in our pjs and make a bag of popcorn and just hang out together. It’s pretty much my favourite part of the day.

Where to Start? Check out these great family titles

September Netflix Titles– Maleficent
– Zootopia (The kids LOVE this one and frankly so do I)
– Planes: Fire & Rescue
– Tangled
– The Princess and the Frog
– Treasure Planet
– Cool Runnings
– Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Don’t forget to take some time out of your busy schedules to sit down as a crew and put on some of the newest Netflix shows on.

Come Together with Beat Bugs on Netflix #BeatBugs #StreamTeam

images-2

What do you call cute little bugs that sing great tunes … BEAT BUGS!

My television is heavily consumed by Kids Netflix shows that I am made to sit down and watch if I want some cuddles. 90% of the time I tune out what they are watching and the other 10% I actually pay attention to and this show was one that fell in the 10% since the opening song to the first episode was an old time hit that made me burst out into song (which made them laugh).

Kids will love the adorable bug-like creatures, Jay, Kumi, Crick, Buzz and Walter with fun storylines and parents will love the music since songs have been re-recorded by today’s top artists, including P!nk, Sia and Eddie Vedder. Here’s a little trailer so get your vocal cords ready!
