Educational Games for Kids – Enter to WIN #eeBoo

eeBoo always good gamesI noticed that my big guy kept asking me to buy puzzle apps on the iPad and he was actually pretty good at them, so in true Terri fashion, I went to the toy store and walked out with a stack of puzzles. Of course there was a ton of puzzles to choose from, so here’s how I chose:

1. My son’s interests: he loves animals and faces so I looked for puzzles that I knew he would get excited about
2. Size of the puzzle pieces: the bigger the puzzle piece, the easier the puzzle but is a great way to get your little one started. I noticed that most puzzles will show you the size of the puzzle pieces on the box
3. If the puzzle or brand has won any awards: these awards are always proudly displayed on the front of the boxes
4. If there are different kinds of puzzles: just to mix it up a bit, if there are matching games or other fun puzzle like games I will try them

When I was going away with my son a little while back, so I went to the toy store to look for some puzzles and found an Alphabet puzzle by eeboo (which met all my above requirements) and I can’t begin to explain how much he loved it! This puzzle was exactly what he was learning in school, so it was perfect for us! It’s not your traditional puzzle, you match the letter with the picture (A would have the matching piece of an Apple) and including numbers as well.

It was like the stars aligned because months later I was contacted to test out some of their puzzles (a complete fluke), and I happily took them up on it and got two “non-traditional” puzzles.

eeboo Dominoes and The Lotto Game

First let me say, eeBoo makes so many great games and puzzles it was hard to choose, but I am very happy with my selection as they were perfect for his age. The Dominoes game is a take on the old time classic, but instead of just the regular ol’ dots, you match up the animals. The Lotto Game, is a fun game playing on BINGO and the matching games where each player gets a board, players pick up a tile to see if it matches what is on their board, if it does not match you put it back with the other tiles and hopefully those around you don’t remember where the tile was. Players continue until all 6 spaces on his/her board is full and scream LOTTO when completed

Playing Dominoes

Why I love eeBoo games:
– a lot of their products have won awards which they proudly display on their boxes (Oppenheim Best Toy Awards and other honours)
– the pictures they use are done by  well-known and well-loved children’s book illustrators
– eeBoo’s games encourage literacy, story telling, drawing, imaginative play and basic math
– they proudly display their safety information on their site (not a lot of companies do)
– family run business (I always love to support family run businesses)
– their website is extremely easy to use and you can even shop by age and even by holiday
– the prices are very reasonable
– the instructions on how to play the game are printed on the lid of the box (instead of just a piece of paper which we always lose) and are very easy to follow
