A New Year Calls for New Netflix Shows #StreamTeam

New Netflix Shows

Bye bye 2017, HELLO 2018!!!!!!

Although I am sad to see another year pass (which means my kids are going to be another year older and I guess that means that I am going to be another year older EEK) I happily welcome 2018 for many reasons and I promise I won’t bore you with my new years resolutions (that’s because I don’t have any), but one that I am excited about are all the new upcoming shows for our minis and of course for us. Now that is a reason to be excited!

I bet you want me to dish it ….

Don’t laugh but honestly this new show I can not wait to watch (of course it’s a show for my kids) Llama Llama. With the new show just launched, I couldn’t be more excited to watch it with my mini since we have the series of books which has been in our book rotation for many many years. I mean who doesn’t love Llama Llama Red Pyjama?!

Llama Llama

Is your little one Troll obsessed (I was when I was a kid and obviously went to see the movie)? Well the new Netflix show Trolls: The Beat goes on carries on right where the movie left off. Of course Poppy looks as cute as she did in the movie!

Trolls

Other new titles include: Altered Carbon (for the parents who like the scary shows – definitely not for me), Queer Eye which is returning back to television after 15 years, On My Block and Seven Seconds.

For those who are patiently waiting for second seasons of their favourites, here are some to expect: Riverdale Season 2, Santa Clarita Diet Season 2 and One Day at a Time Season 2.

Not a bad lineup and if I know Netflix, there are many more to come.

Happy Netflix New Year to all and Happy Streaming

Unwind with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netlfix

From school to play dates, hockey practice, swim lessons, baseball practice and now to long days at camp, sitting back on a couch and unwinding with Netflix for a few minutes is a BIG must in my house.

I love nothing more than my kids running around out doors getting some exercise, but sometimes it is necessary to just have some down time where they can be one with the couch and reset their busy little minds and bodies. It sounds easier than it is because two little boys who have a lot of energy don’t always just want to sit down but when I say “popcorn and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” it usually is an easy draw to get them inside to mellow out.

Big news from Netflix: now your kids can be their own director and determine what adventures they want to see. With the new launch of Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale, Netflix is introducing interactive ways to watch TV by putting the storytelling power in the hands of the most important audience member … your kid! Your child will be asked questions and they can choose the path to which the show goes (brilliant actually .. and so fun).

Now go show your kids and let them have the fun!

Happy almost long weekend

A New Year calls for New Shows #StreamTeam

Netflix Canada

Television show endings these days are not all fuzzy peaches and roses. They seem to be more controversial or they leave you with lots of questions and of course for us (adults) we like that, but children (well up to a certain age) they think endings should all be happy ever after which as we all know is certainly not real life?! So is it time to let them in on our little secret? Netflix is reinventing family television with these new showNetflix New Years

Lemony Snickers A Series of Unfortunate Events
Dreamworks Trollhunters
Voltron: Legendary Defender
Tarzan and Jane
Home: Adventures of Tip & Oh
Kazoos

So are your kids ready for the anti-fairytale?

Don’t Forget about Family Time #StreamTeam

So you blinked and it somehow turned into fall! The kids went back to school, the after school programs started, the weekend programs started which means in my house one parent takes the older and one person takes the younger and after a crazy week of running around you realize that you have spent little to no time with two members of your group of 4 and there is no time to catch up.

Welcome to my life! So what do I do? I find Netflix television shows and movies that we can all agree on (that is no easy task these days), sit down on the couch in our pjs and make a bag of popcorn and just hang out together. It’s pretty much my favourite part of the day.

Where to Start? Check out these great family titles

September Netflix Titles– Maleficent
– Zootopia (The kids LOVE this one and frankly so do I)
– Planes: Fire & Rescue
– Tangled
– The Princess and the Frog
– Treasure Planet
– Cool Runnings
– Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End

Don’t forget to take some time out of your busy schedules to sit down as a crew and put on some of the newest Netflix shows on.

Try Explaining it with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netlfix

These days I find that I am having one way conversations with my kids, I am talking and nobody is listening. They either are running around the house hyper as can be, fighting with each other over g-d knows what or they have their heads dug into some tech device.

I have found that I can teach my kids a thousand lessons, but truly they couldn’t care less or they just tune me out, but if their favorite Netflix show teaches them the same lesson they somehow find it very interesting and repeat it to me as if I haven’t previously said the same thing!!!!

Looking for some show recommendations?

May Netflix

  1. The Hive – teaching you about sibling rivalry
    2. Veggietales: in the house – teaching about responsibility
    3. Puffin Rock – following the rules
    4. The Adventures of Puss in Boots – teach about self-love
    5. Project MC2 – all about teamwork
    6. Fuller House – Peer Pressure
    7. The Fosters – Actions have Consequences
    8. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt – Self-Improvement
    9. Glee – Body Image (one of my most favorite shows)

If your kids aren’t listening to you, try tackling some real life issues with some of these Netflix shows and see if that works for you.

Celebrating the Holidays with Netflix – Enter to WIN!!! #NetfliXmas #StreamTeam

Netlfix

December is one of my favourite months of the year: Hanukkah, Christmas, Christmas Music (my absolute favourite), lights on neighbourhood houses and trees, Christmas movies and the smell of baking in friends houses. To be quite honest, the only smell of baked goods in my house is the purchased kind or even the pre-made cookie dough kind. I have seen so many amazing cookie recipes via #streamteam bloggers, however my best recipe is going to the grocery store and picking up those pre-made cookie dough rolls, roll them into balls and put them on the cookie sheet for 10-15 minutes creating the perfect, delicious cookies for all my family members to enjoy for their late afternoon movie chill. Netflix has an amazing lineup for the month of December!

December Netflix

1. Casper’s Haunted Christmas

2. Cat in the Hat knows a lot about Christmas

3. Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas

4. Dreamworks Happy Holidays from Madagascar

Get Cozy with Netflix – #StreamTeam

Netlfix

Officially I can say it feels like Fall! The temperatures have drastically dropped, you have retired your summer wardrobe and brought out all your favourite fleece slippers and most importantly, your cozy sweatpants.

Truly, what is better than getting home from work (or a full day’s worth of errands in some cases), slipping on those comfy sweats (or pj’s in my case) and a big, baggy sweatshirt, popping fresh popcorn with some sprinkled chocolates in it (to satisfy the sweet and salty of course) and sitting down on the couch with your kids to watch a movie or favourite television show. Ok so let’s be real, in my house it doesn’t quite go down like that since I have two very rambunctious boys who don’t sit for a mere second (well at least until 7:00pm), but when they do settle down and want to want to watch television, I truly thank G-d for Netflix. There is always one (or six or seven) shows on there that they both want to watch and then there is peace and quiet that comes over the room … ahhhhh SUCCESS!!!

New on Netflix

Netflix September Shows

1. Lilo & Stitch
2. Nanny McPhee Returns
3. The Muppets

Back to School with Netflix #StreamTeam

Netlfix

The weather has spoken and summer is coming to an end. Camp is over, programs for the fall have been set and your child’s back to school backpack is almost ready to go. Hard to believe that this is the end, it’s just too short.

Now it’s time to start hyping up back-to-school and talking to your kids about appropriate classroom behaviour (well at least I do) and what to expect, but that is never an easy conversation especially with the little one’s because they just don’t get it. Sometimes our television friends do the best job explaining and with these new Netflix titles they just might understand the underlying message.

For the Little Guys

Back to School netflix

1. Curious George
2. Zoboomafoo
3. Yo Gabba Gabba! (my big guy has been watching the show for years and it’s amazing how many lessons he has picked up from this show)
4. Walking with Dinosaurs
5. Planet Earth: The Complete Collection
6. The Adventures of Chuck & Friends
7. Animal Mechanicals (teaches kids about working together to get the job done)
8. The Magic School Bus
9. The Cat in the Hat
10. Dinotrux (the new AMAZING series teaching kids to work together using their individual skills and problem solve)
11. Ever After High: Way too Wonderland

Best of luck with Back to School to you the parent (we need the luck … well I know I do) and of course the kiddies

Your Child’s Destiny is their’s to Choose #StreamTeam

Netlfix

Over the last few years, with every birthday, I ask my oldest son what he wants to be when he grows up and every year it has changed. He started off saying he wanted to be a “vegetarian” which I am pretty sure he meant “veterinarian” as my dad and brother are both veterinarians and we spend a lot of time at their offices (vegetarian is possible though since he won’t go near any meat product), then it changed to a doctor and this year he wants to be a lawyer and a skating instructor. Through a few giggles, we tell him he can be anything he wants to be when he grows up and will always encourage him to choose his own path.

New to Netflix this February is Ever After High: Spring Unsprung which celebrates the idea that the story of your life is not written in permanent ink and have the power to create your own destiny. Here’s a peek:

Following the Create Your own Destiny theme, here are a few other great, fun titles for your kids
